Invite a user to their portal
Give an owner or tenant access to their own portal. They set their own password.
Start: the owner’s or tenant’s record Result: they receive an email and set their own password.
Owners and tenants do not sign themselves up. You invite them.
Steps
- Open the person’s record.
- Send the invitation - the option reads Send them an onboarding email now.
- They receive a link, set their own password, and their access becomes active.
Checking who has access
Each person’s record shows their access state:
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Not invited | the record exists, no email sent |
| Invited | email sent, password not yet set |
| Active | they can sign in |
You never see or set their password. If someone cannot get in, re-send the invitation or point them at Forgot password - see reset your password.
Check the email address before sending. The link carries a single-use access token, so sending it to the wrong address means cancelling and re-issuing.
