Attach an owning entity

Record the trust or company that legally owns a unit, so documents are addressed correctly.

Before you start

Start: the owner’s record, Entities tab Result: a unit whose statements are addressed to the legal owner.

Do this when the title is held by a trust, company or close corporation rather than by the person you deal with. See owning entities for why it is kept separate.

Steps

  1. Open the owner and go to the Entities tab.
  2. Add the entity: its registered name, registration number and signatory.
  3. Assign the relevant units to it.
  4. Save.

Result

Statements and invoices for those units carry the entity’s registered name, and its books stay separate from the owner’s other holdings.

VAT is not rendered per entity. An entity may be VAT-registered while its owner is not, and Domi Vera does not currently show VAT differently because of it. Raise this before relying on a statement for a VAT return.
