Tenants

A tenant is whoever rents a unit — usually a person, sometimes a company renting on an employee’s behalf.

A tenant is not a lease

This is the distinction worth holding on to.

The tenant is the person. The lease is the agreement they hold on a particular unit for a particular period.

One tenant may hold a lease, end it, and take another unit later. Their record — contact details, history, documents — carries across. The billing follows the lease.

This is why ending a lease does not delete the tenant. Their history stays, which is what you need when they apply again or when a query arrives eighteen months later.

Several tenants, one lease

A couple, or three people sharing a house, hold one lease between them — not one each.

That means one rent, one invoice and one balance. The lease is what is billed, and the tenants on it are jointly on the hook for it. Domi Vera does not split a shared lease into separate accounts, because the agreement does not.

Companies as tenants

A company can be a tenant — an employer renting for a seconded employee is routine. The record carries the registered name, registration number and a signatory alongside the ordinary contact fields, exactly as an owner record does.

Entity details on a tenant are a record, not a billing identity. Invoices and statements still address the person named on the account. If a company must be invoiced by its registered name, say so — this is a known gap, not a setting you have missed.

The tenant portal

Tenants get a portal of their own showing what they have been invoiced, what they have paid, what is outstanding, and documents shared with them. They see their own lease and nothing else — never another tenant’s account, and never what the owner is charged.

Contact details and changes

A tenant can update their own details in the portal. Changes to the things that matter — name, email, banking — go to you for approval rather than applying silently, so your records cannot be altered without your knowing.
