Change the rent from a future date

Schedule an escalation so invoices before the date use the old rent and after it the new one.

Start: the lease, Lease tab Result: the rent changes automatically on the date you set.

Steps

  1. Open the lease and go to its Lease tab.
  2. Enter the New rent ® and the date it takes effect.
  3. Save rent.

What happens

The lease keeps both figures with the effective date between them. Invoices for periods before the date use the old rent; invoices after it use the new one. You do not have to remember to change it on the day.

Set the effective date to the first day of the billing period the new rent applies to. A date mid-period produces a split month, which is correct arithmetic but rarely what an escalation clause means.

This does not regenerate invoices already issued. Those are fixed records - see invoices.
