Extend or renew a lease

Start: the lease, Lease tab Result: the lease runs to a new end date, keeping its history.

Steps

1. Open the lease and choose Extend lease.
2. Enter the New end date.
3. If the rent changes at renewal, set it with an effective date - see change the rent.
4. Save.

Extend, or start a new lease?

Extend when it is the same tenant continuing in the same unit. The balance, deposit and history all carry on, which is what both of you expect.

New lease when the tenant changes, or the unit changes. Extending across a change of tenant produces one account belonging to two different people.
